Greece defeats brave Austrians

The Austrian National Team was handed a 0:3 (23:25, 19:25, 25:27)-defeat by Greece in their last European League Game on Saturday in Glyfada. “We looked more stable today. I wanted to have a look at the younger players today and they responded by playing really well. We still make stupid mistakes in the decisive situations, because we go full force all the time. That was all expected nevertheless. We have to continue to learn, learn and learn more. I’m surprised, that we are challenging Greece, even in the away games”, said Headcoach Michael Warm after the game.

EuroVolley 2011

Austria and the Czech Republic have had their host status assured by the European Volleyball Confederation CEV in Madrid for the Men’s European Championships in 2011. The European Championships will take place in Prague, Carlsbad, Vienna and Innsbruck.
The preliminary pools will be held at all four playing locations, the play-off and quarter-final matches in Prague and Vienna.

Semi-final, final and classification matches will take place in Vienna.

The opening game will be staged on 10th September in Prague, the final game on 18th September 2011 in Vienna.

 

CEV

cevThe Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) is the European umbrella association for volleyball. The association’s headquarter is located in Luxembourg; the association is presided over by chairman André Meyer. The CEV was founded on 21th October 1963 and organises the majority of European competitions and tournaments.

The CEV is the presiding entity over individual national associations and organises continental competitions such as the highly prestigious European Championships (which had its debut in 1948), the Champions League, the CEV Cup, the Challenge Cup and the European League.

It also contributes to the organisation of qualification tournaments for the Olympic Games and World Championships as well as international  competitions held by member associations. www.cev.lu
