Brasil wins World League 2010, Russia with Topscorer Mikhaylov comes to Second Place
In an enthralling Final Game of the World League 2010 Brasil ensures the ninth title and defeats Russia 3:1 (25:22, 25:22, 16:25, 25:23).
During the first two sets neither team could leave the other behind, both heats ended at the score of 25:22 in favor of Brasil. In the third set, the russian team, leaded by Topscorer Maxim Mikhaylov who is on a contract at Russian-Topclub Yaroslavich, could get a large advantage and defend it till the final score of 16:25. In the fourth set, Brasil recoverd its strength and ensures the title at the score of 25:23.
Both topscorers of both teams, Mikhaylov and Dante, showed an outstanding performance and remained the game thrilling till its end. Especially young Russian Maxim Mikhaylov exhibited his talent by becoming Topscorer of the World League 2010 and, with an average of 53,23% success rate, he becomes secondbest spiker. Aditionally the 22-year-old illustrated a great blocking-performance, mostly together with teammates Dmitriy Muserski oder Alexander Volkov, which makes him to one of the best universalplayers in the present.
Another european Team could make it on the winner's podium. Serbia defeated Cuba in a thrilling game 3:2 (28:30, 25:20, 22:25, 25:22, 15:12). Topsorer of the match, Nikola Kovacevic and his team finally ensured the bronze medal for Serbia.
Overall, the World League 2010 ended in a successful way for the European Top-Teams. Besides Russia at Second Place and Serbia at Third Place, Italy and Bulgaria could reach Rank 6 and 7.
